Lamarche Burgundy

Rare and rare Burgundy!

2011 Domaine Lamarche Vosnee Romanee Malconsorts...$146.99
Aux Malconsorts is located at the southern corner of Vosne-Romanee's vineyard belt, along the commune boundary with Nuits-Saint-Georges. It lies right next to the La Tache Grand Cru (produced exclusively by Domaine Romanee Conti ) vineyard which lies a tantalizingly short distance away across the narrow Les Gaudichots vineyard. This is a great opportunity to get Grand Cru quality at Premier Cru pricing.

Located across the road from DRC
2011 Domaine Lamarche La Grande Rue Monopole...$365.99 Net

(only 6 bottles available)
"Domaine Francois Lamarche is renowned for its monopole La Grande Rue that lies on the opposite side of the road from Romanee-Conti, although its history is less illustrious, at least until recent times when it has been great to see this domaine’s wines radically improving. La Grande Rue was apparently a wedding gift to Henri Lamarche given in 1933." - The Wine Advocate

Great Syrah

We have a great selection of Bedrock Wines in stock now

An amazing Value a potential 94 Point Syrah for under $25/btl
2012 Bedrock North Coast Syrah...$23.99
The 2012 Syrah North Coast is a multi-appellation blend from five separate vineyards that utilized 40% stems and 15% new French oak. It is a delicious, sexy, up-front Syrah meant for near-term consumption. With impressive levels of blackberry and acacia flower notes intermixed with licorice and charcoal, this wine should drink well for 5-7 years.

Region: Toro, Spain
Toro is a wine region in Castilla y Leon, north-western Spain, known for its powerful red wines made from Tempranillo. It is named for the town of Toro, an ancient settlement located on the Duero River (which bisects the region's northern half) just 40 miles east of the Portuguese border. The Spanish word toro means 'bull', and while it is unclear precisely how the town's name came about, the bull is nonetheless a fitting symbol for robust, red Toro wines. We think the wines of Toro offer some of the best values in the world, come taste a store favorite this weekend 2009 Spada Tinto de Toro On-Sale for only $6.99, along with some fantastic new arrivals.

Linie Aquavit - aged at sea in oloroso casks

A very special Aquavit from Norway

Lne_lbl
Linie Aquavit...$27.99 / 750ml
Matured at Sea
This is a very special Aquavit distilled from Potatoes.   Linie is the Norwegian word for "line" and it refers to the line known as the equator.    Linie is aged in Oloroso sherry casks and placed on the deck of a ship and for a journey on the sea crossing the equator down to Australia and then again back to Normay.  The journey takes it across the equator twice, it goes through big temperature changes, absorbs the salty air, and swirls around in the barrel (the back of the label shows the specifics of its voyage).  After the voyage, it is then aged for another 12-14 months before being blended.

  • From maturing in oak casks previously used to age sherry, Linie Aquavit acquires a hint of sherry flavor.
  • Linie’s casks cross the equator twice on ocean ships over a four-month voyage under conditions that create the smoothest aquavit.
  • Made from potato spirit, with notes of caraway, aniseed, sherry and vanilla, which create a rich, herbal flavor.
Over 200 years ago, Catharina Lysholm brought her aquavit to ports in the East Indies, selling all but five casks. On her return to Norway, she found that her remaining, well-travelled aquavit tasted significantly better.   Though commercial sailing ships have long since vanished, Linie Aquavit still crosses the equator twice on a four-month sea voyage spanning 35 countries. The temperature and humidity of the crossings give Linie its smoothness.  To this day, every bottle of Linie Aquavit carries details of its four-month sea voyage in casks formerly used for aging sherry. On the back label you will find the date of departure, the date it returned after crossing the equator twice, and the name of the ship. You can check on each bottle’s voyage at www.linie.com.Linie Aquavit is quite versatile: perfect as an aperitif before the meal, as a digestif following the meal, or as a base for countless, creatively delicious cocktails.

Against the Grain | Brewery & Smokehouse

Against the Grain All Funked Up Wild Series
Brett and the Hipman Hop...$14.99
This beer is the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be.
A solid dose of light pilsner malt along with a variety of similarly undermodified German-style malts gave us a crisp, clean base to work with. Then we got it All Funked Up. Generous additions of Apollo and Vanguard hops created a substantial flavor of citrus peel and floral spice as well as plenty of IBUs for such a mild malt bill. Ale yeast was then used for primary
fermentation before adding a blend of three strains of Brettanomyces. These superattenuating little bugs were allowed to thoroughly ferment out many complex sugars and leave behind their characteristic (and very apparent) wild and funky flavors. After about four and a half months, we added a fresh addition of whole leaf Amarillo hops that spent about a week imparting a citrusy, almost candylike flavor. Finally, we moved the beer to a bottle for a final fermentation that cleaned and carbonated this beer to be ready for the glass.
ABV: 8.0% IBU: 64.5

Against the Grain Rico Sauvin....$13.99 / 22oz
Ahh Dey Ahh Dey, RRRRico Ahh Dey Ahh Dey Saaaauvin!
An India Pale Ale featuring Nelson Sauvin hops. Named after the Sauvignon Blanc grape, is a variety of hop developed and grown in New Zealand. It has a strong fruity flavor and aroma that is described as resembling white wine, or fresh crushed grapes or gooseberries. Some reviewers of this hop perceive the fruitiness as being very tropical with descriptions including passion fruit, tangerines, and grapefruit. These hops are organic and are about 4 times as expensive as our normal American varieties, hence the footed glass only.

SHERIDAN VINEYARDS
2011 Sheridan Cabrnet Sauvignon...$23.99
Also a solid value, the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon is more focused and reserved than the Mystique and delivers classic black currant, chocolate, cedar and herb aromas and flavors as well as a medium to full-bodied, balanced mouthfeel. Just bottled at the time of this tasting, it will most likely put on weight in the next year or so and drink nicely for 7-8 years. It’s a rock solid bottle of wine that sells for a song.

2010 Sheridan Mystique
A great value you must try!
A blend of Merlot with 30% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 17 months entirely in once-used barriques...Dark berries and tobacco come to the fore as this takes on air and lend sweet savor and a modicum of primary juiciness."

EFESTE VINEYARDS

2010 Efeste Final Final
Another superb effort and a rocking value, the 2010 Final-Final is a blend of 59% Cabernet Sauvignon and 41% Syrah, from a variety of vineyards throughout the state, that was aged in one-third new French oak prior to being bottled unfined and unfiltered. Loaded with notions of mulled spices, tobacco, smoked herbs and black currants, it is a full-bodied, super rich wine that possesses remarkable purity and precision for a wine of its size. Drink it over the coming 4-5 years. Drink now-2018.

Sparkling wine aged at the bottom of the Ocean

In stock at Forsyth, Rock Hill

They pull the bottles up from the ocean and do not wash them.  They then let seashells, algae. barnacles and whatever else from the bottom of the ocean all dry on the bottle and seal them in plastic.  Each bottle is different and each bottle is numbered.   The ocean offers perfect dark place and constant temperature for ageing the sparkling wine.

2011 Abrissi Bisson Italian Sparkling....$93.99 / 750ml
Using the classic Champagne method.

This Wine Goes Well With Fish
The New York Times

"BRILLIANT ideas sometimes arise out of pure necessity. Consider Piero Lugano, 63, the suntanned artist-turned-wine-merchant who opened a shop called Bisson in this town on the Italian Riviera in 1978.

Not content merely to sell wine, he soon began making it. Ten years ago he decided to try producing sparkling wine from indigenous varieties grown in vineyards overlooking the Golfo Paradiso on the Mediterranean.

But he immediately encountered a problem: there was simply no space in his already cramped shop and winery to carry out the aging required to make a bottle-fermented sparkling wine in the classic method of Champagne. Then, as he recalled recently, “a light bulb went on in my head: I thought, why not put the wine under the sea?”....click here to read the full New York Times Article

More info from Bisson's website

Environmental conditions to achieve this type of sparkling wine, is known, which require an environment that meets the specific conditions of temperature and light (underground caves and tunnels).

Looking around and thinking about the wrecks of the galleons in the sea, which have repeatedly returned food products (wine) well preserved by the organoleptic characteristics intact.

Combining my passion for wine and the sea, I thought that the ideal could actually be the seabed. Depth 60 m, +15 ° constant temperature, darkness, pressure and a series of favorable factors in this ideal context for the most exclusive champagne!

The choice of location, thanks to the cooperation of the Area Portofino Marine Park, has fallen in "Cala English 'in the heart of the park. Over the years, completed all the trials and research, and the project started in May 2009, 6,500 bottles matured into the seabed.

Stone Go To IPA

In stock now!

Stone Go to IPA...$9.99 / 6pk
Since Day One, we've been abundantly forthright and fully transparent about our lust for hops. It's led us to craft many an IPA, most of them imperial—some intense for their time and all timeless in their intensity. For Stone Go To IPA, we are embracing our hop obsession in a new way, funneling an abundance of lupulin-borne bitterness into a "session" IPA delivering all the fruity, piney character of a much bigger IPA. To accomplish this, we employed "hop bursting," a new technique wherein an irrational amount of hops is added during the final phase of the brewing process to coax out extreme flavors and aromas while also imparting a burst of desirably pleasant bitterness. The result is an Alpha-acid-rich beer that fans can enjoy more of without missing out on the assertive hop character you, like us, crave. So, sit back and go two with your new everyday go-to IPA and bask along with us in the glory of the almighty hop.

Limited release from Cakebread..

2010 Cakebread Cabernet Sauvignon Vine Hill....$106.99
The 2010 vintage of our Vine Hill Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the wine’s typically dense, complex aromas of ripe black fruits, plum compote, earth, slate, mineral and spice. Its intensely rich and deeply concentrated blackberry, fig, boysenberry and dark plum flavors – with undertones of mineral, spice and roasted coffee – are framed by firm, but supple tannins and culminate in a long, beautifully structured finish. Tightly wound in its youth, the Vine Hill Ranch is always impressive on release, but handsomely repays up to a decade of cellaring.

92 points for Freemark Abbey Cab...

2010 Freemark Abbey Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley...$31.99
This is a beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon. It epitomizes the Napa quality of power married to finesse. Winemaker Ted Edwards deserves kudos for producing a high-production Cabernet (34,000 cases) this good, from a difficult vintage. It’s dry and balanced, with rich, complex blackberry, sage and sweet oak flavors. Drink now–2017. — S.H. (11/1/2013)

92 point Marietta

2010 Marietta Angeli Cuvee Alexander Valley...$29.99
The peppery, meaty, superb 2010 Angeli Cuvee is primarily a blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Carignan and cool climate Syrah. Production of this big red (15.4% natural alcohol) was 3,300 cases. Its dense ruby/purple hue is followed by aromas of licorice, black currants and cherries intermixed with hints of camphor and spice. This is a full-bodied, opulent, mouth-filling, savory wine with not a hard edge to be found. It should drink well for 5-7 years.

95 Point Zinfandel - great price!

Great Price - next lowest price in the country is $45.99
2008 Ravenswood Old Hill Zinfandel...$39.99
A tremendous Zinfandel, Ravenswood’s most expensive, and while you might quiver at the price, it’s easily a very great wine. This is Zinfandel on steroids, a monster of wild summer berry, tobacco, currant and spice flavors, wrapped into significantly thick tannins. Yet despite the power, it never quite loses elegance and balance. The winery’s 2007 was their greatest Zinfandel ever, and this one isn’t far behind.

Spaten Munich Dunkel

Still brewed in Munich.  There are not many Munich Dunkels available here in St. Louis -- good to have this one back!

Spaten Munich Dunkel...$8.49 / 6pk
"An old friend of Bavaria, Munich Dunkels are smooth, rich and complex, but without being heady or heavy. They boast brilliant ruby hues from the large amounts of Munich malts used, and these malts also lend a fuller-bodied beer. The decoction brewing process also lends much depth and richness. Bitterness is often moderate, with just enough to balance out any sweetness. Hop varieties used tend to be of the German noble varieties, like: Tetnang and Hallertau." -- BeerAdvocate

Dancing Hares scores 95 from Robert Parker

On sale!
2010 Dancing Hares Napa Valley Red...$129.99
Even better, the 2010 Dancing Hares is deeper and fuller with more structure as well as a lot of the sensuality exhibited by the 2009. Composed of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot, it boasts a dense purple color and notes of wet rocks, blueberries, black raspberries, mulberries, espresso and subtle background oak. The delicious aromatics are followed by a deep, supple, round, opulent wine with some tannin underlying the extravagant fruit. A beauty of purity and symmetry, it is capable of lasting two decades or more.
