Broeckhouse Draupnir...$9.99 / pint
6.5% ABV
"From Wikipedia (http://www.wikipedia.com/): "Draupnir is a golden arm ring possessed by Odin, the highest god in Norse mythology. The ring was a source of endless wealth, since each ninth morning it spawned eight more gold rings just like itself. Draupnir was forged by the dwarven brothers Brokkr and Eitri (or Sindri) ..."The beers of the Vikings and ingredients used in Viking times were the inspiration for Draupnir.

It is a clear golden top-fermented beer with a nice lasting head. It is brewed with pale ale, munich, and wheat malt, which gives the beer a fresh mouthfeel with a discreet malt sweetness. Draupnir is moderately hopped with English Challenger hops and spiced with pine needles, sloe berries and honey.Draupnir is a perfect fit with meat or grilled fish as well as salads." -- importer

Broeckhouse Esrum Kloster...$9.99 / pint
7.5% ABV
"Esrum Kloster has benn developed in cooperation with Esrum Abbey as the modern equivalent of the medieval abbey ale.It is a top-fermented ale brewed with barley, wheat and rye malt, cane sugar along with lemon balm, lavender, rosemary, juniper and anise that grows in the gardens of Esrum Abbey. The color is maroon, the nose is wonderfully strong and the taste is especially full and aromatic. This ale goes well with heavy meat dishes such as venison." -- importer

Italian beer...

Birra del Borgo 25 Dodici...$15.99 / 25.4oz
"Birra Del Borgo was founded in May of 2005 not too far away from Italy’s capital Rome {about 60 miles northwest}. Leonardo di Vincenzo was originally trained in biochemisrty but started brewing beer as a hobby during his college years.

Malt: Pilsner malt, munich malt, vienna malt, cara munich malt, caraweizen, chocolate malt.
Hops: Hallertau Northern brewer, Hallertau hersbrucker, styrian golding, simcoe.
Spice: Bitter orange peel
Dark amber with a beige-colored foam. The nose is dominated by fruity notes such as berries, plums and orange as well as spicy notes such as pepper and corriander. Chestnut honey and definite hints of chocolate enrich the aroma. On the palate, 25 Dodici is rich and full bodied. The fruity notes are well balanced with the maltiness." - importer

Beer news...

*** Bell's Batch 9,000 update. It should be released in May, but because of Missouri registration we might not see it until August. Jim from Bells said that they are describing it as Batch 7,000 on steroids. It will be very limited.

*** We just got word that Founders is coming to St. Louis in a few months.
Read more on STLHops.

*** Also announced is Grand Teton Brewery, Jacksons Hole's original is also coming to St. Louis. From their website, it looks like Missouri will only be their 13 state for distribution.
http://grandtetonbrewing.com/
"Grand Teton Brewing Company is the original brewery of Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. We have been brewing our handcrafted beers at the base of the Tetons since 1988. 2008 is our 20th Anniversary ! " --brewery

***Another note:
Today is release day for Stone Imperial Russian Stout. I took the liberty of adding St. Louis to their map and emailing them. (They distribute in the blue states, look at the neglected midwest)

Schneider & Brooklyner

The new batch is here....
